The Old Quadrangle – The University of Manchester
Who: The University of Manchester
When: 2024
What:
In 2024, the University of Manchester celebrates its bicentenary marking 200 years of education and innovation. As part of the celebration, the University wanted to create something special to mark the occasion and the revamp of The Old Quadrangle was devised.
The Old Quadrangle was one of the original study areas of the University, however in recent times it has been used as a car park. RECOM were hand-picked by the university to oversee the transformation and celebration of the space.
Unlike most projects at the University, which are capital expenditures, this project has to be acceptable and adaptable for all members and stakeholders who interact with the University of Manchester. It also required a tight turnaround in the break between student years.
Key Features:
- Return the historic area of the University to a garden-type space.
- Fast turnaround to work around term time.
